Vigor Works

Technical Data Package Management of MSV(L) LRIP vessels for Army Watercraft Systems

Project Date: 2024 – Present

In 2017, Vigor Works was awarded the contract to provide Functional and Detailed Production Design Engineering and Fabrication to Army Watercraft Systems (AWS) for the design and fabrication of 14 new MSV(L) to replace the current LCM-8 vessels. 

The design for the MSV(L) was developed in partnership with BMT following a detailed study of the Army’s unique needs. However, since BMT Group closed in 2023, Vigor has pivoted to relying on internal and subcontracted engineering and regulatory support with Elliott Bay Design Group, Revere Marine, and Handy Marine for assistance to develop purchase technical specifications, regulatory support and oversight, technical communications with the Army and the DCMA.

Vigor continues subcontracted engineering and regulatory support with Revere Marine, along with other groups such as Elliott Bay Design Group, Revere Marine, Gibbs and Cox, and Handy Marine for assistance to develop purchase technical specifications. Revere Marine’s owner, Amanda Dayton, is a Project Engineer in this ongoing MSV(L) project effort providing Vigor staff augmentation and consulting. Responsibilities include review of design specifications and documentation, project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, editing & rewriting technical specifications, participating in technical discussions with various stakeholders, and will be on-site Configuration Management support during the fabrication phase.



Elliott Bay Design Group

NYCEDC Ferry Vessel Owner Representation and Engineering Oversight Services

Project Date: 2023 – Present

Elliott Bay Design Group maintains a contract with NYCEDC to provide owner representation and engineering oversight for the NYCEDC city ferries. EBDG hired Revere Marine as a SBE/WBE/DBE subconsultant.

As a Project Engineer, Amanda Dayton provided vessel oversight for the repower and sea trials efforts of the NYCEDC ferries. Responsibilities include review of design specifications and documentation, test & inspection planning, coordination, and technical reporting.


Handy Marine/DHOJV

Caisson and PFO Lids Owner Representation and QC Oversight Services

Project Date: 2024 – Present

Handy Marine maintains a contract with DHOJV to provide local owner representation and quality control oversight for the new construction of a steel Dry Dock Caisson and PFO buoyancy lids. Handy Marine hired Revere Marine as a subconsultant.

As a Quality Control representative, Amanda Dayton provides construction oversight for the DHOJV caisson and PFO lids. Responsibilities include review of design specifications and documentation, dimensional control checks, progress photos, and onsite technical reporting.


Vigor Works

Functional Design Engineering and Estimate for Design & Construction for Five New Passenger-Vehicle Vessels for Operation in Western Washington

2020 – 2022

In June 2020, Vigor Works was awarded the contract to provide the Functional Design Engineering and Cost Estimate to Washington State Ferries for the design and construction of five new Passenger-Vehicle ferries for operation in Western Washington. Washington State Ferries (WSF) is the department within the Washington State Department of Transportation responsible for marine transportation. The five new ferries will be owned and operated by WSF. Vigor hired Revere Marine as a SBE/WBE/DBE subconsultant.

All ferries will be medium speed vessels, about 362 feet in length, with a capacity of 1,500 passengers and 144 vehicles. All ferries will operate year-round, in the Puget Sound. The program is part of WSF’s 2010 Long-Range plan and the central part of their effort to address climate change.

Vigor maintains a subcontract with Revere Marine. Revere Marine’s owner, Amanda Dayton, is a Project Engineer in this ongoing WSF project effort providing Vigor staff augmentation and consulting. Responsibilities include review of design specifications and documentation, developing the cost estimate for the ferry, project planning, participating in technical discussions with various stakeholders, and will be on-site support during the construction phase.
